About Me

WELCOME

Thanks for stopping by!  I’m an outspoken wife and mother of four with an opinion on nearly everything.

Before I was a Mom, I served in the Air Force as an Intelligence Analyst.  I wore combat boots, shot an M-16 and held a Top Secret Clearance.  16 years later I now wear an apron, house slippers and wield a mean wooden spoon.  These days the only secrets I’m trusted with are the crushes of my handsome teenage sons.

While stationed in Hawaii I met my husband and fell head-over-heals in love.  He was everything I’d been looking for in a guy and soon became the man of my dreams.  We were married in 1999 and had our first son in 2001.  After nearly 7 years in paradise we said goodbye to our military life and moved back to the mainland where we bought a fixer-upper farmhouse on 6 acres just outside of Seattle, Washington.  Today I’m living the life I always thought I would, but it’s not at all what I dreamed it would be.   Most days I feel more like a taxi-driver, personal chef, task master & life coach than I do a Mom.  Parenting is tough, but I’m determined to do it right and create the the life for my children that I ached for as a child.  Through the ups and downs, trials and triumphs I’m learning more about myself and the world around me than I ever expected.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

I love fresh-cut flowers, antique stores, Broadway musicals, girlfriend weekends, fairy tales, romantic movies, beautiful music and great literature.  I collect children’s books, heart-shaped rocks and my children’s memories.  I love to travel, stay in fancy hotels & dine in elegant restaurants.  Thanks to my husband I get to do this a couple times a year.  Most days though the extent of my travel involves traversing the streets of our hometown, dropping off and picking up kids from their never ending sports activities, then coming home to a less than 5 star casserole or crock-pot dinner.  The life and experiences that motherhood has given me are rounding off my rough edges and teaching me everything I didn’t know I didn’t know.  That’s my favorite thing about being a wife and mother is the crash course in personal growth that it inevitably creates.

I’m fascinated with politics and pop culture and often reflect on how these influences will impact not just my life but the life of my children.  I enjoy creative writing as well as recording the experiences that leave their mark on my heart.  I love to work out and run to stay in shape.  I enjoy running marathons and doing triathlons, not because I’m a competitive athlete but because I enjoy the challenge and growth it brings when I train and prepare for an event.

MY HOPES & DREAMS

My greatest hope is that my children will grow into kind, hard-working, successful people who know God and love their fellowmen.  I hope to leave behind a legacy of unconditional love for my husband, children and all those who knew me. I hope that my husband and I will be one of those cute old couples that still hold hands on a park bench with hearts full of love for each other.  I hope our love will create a shared life of beautiful memories that warm our hearts in our final years.

I dream of qualifying for the Boston Marathon, completing an Iron-man distance triathlon, being a best selling author, having my own newspaper column, and spending my empty-nester years traveling the world with my husband and writing books that make a difference in peoples lives.
